Presentation: The Evolution of Analytics at Canada Post: Going Beyond Prediction
Canada Post is committed to being a data driven business and over the past several years the Advanced Analytics team has focussed on descriptive analytics (what happened) and predictive analytics (what will happen). Recently we have increased our analytics maturity by including prescriptive analytics with scenario planning and simulations. Our next goal is to go beyond even prescriptive analytics into a fourth level called integrated analytics. In this presentation, I will:
Explain the evolution of descriptive, predictive, prescriptive, and integrated analytics
Provide examples of recent projects at each maturity level
Discuss how to provide tools to seamlessly guide business decisions with ML/AI

Presentation: AI Empowerment: Infrastructure Canada's Ethical Roadmap
Infrastructure Canada is implementing an AI Framework to pave the path for ethical and responsible use of AI in practice. With guidelines, tools and project governance designed to address business challenges and opportunities first, AI will be used in a practical, efficient, and sustainable manner to improve the efficiency and accuracy of Infrastructure Canada’s operations. With four use cases from across the product lifecycle - from experimentation, to scaling a pilot project, to testing and finally lessons learned from AI in operation, this presentation can shed light on how to set up projects with implementation in mind, measure success and understand the change management needed to take AI from theory to practice in a government department.

The Bank of Canada has a wide and diverse base of data users across its functions. The diversity of use-cases and business processes has necessitated a flexible approach to accommodating user requirements in data infrastructure design and selection, and in data and use-case delivery. This presentation will explore the evolution and diversity of the Bank of Canada's data infrastructures. It includes a variety of platforms such as cloud data lakehouses, on-premise high-performance computing, traditional on-premise data infrastructures, and off-lake cloud infrastructures. Erik will discuss how the Bank’s diverse data user population and use-cases continue to influence the evolution of technology and processes at the organization.

Presentation: Enabling Data-Driven Diplomacy: Data Science at Global Affairs Canada
- Global Affairs Canada defines, shapes and advances Canada’s interests and values in a complex global environment. The increasing fluidity with which we can access data presents a significant opportunity to improve the way we do so. However, the sheer volume of information available can be overwhelming, making it difficult to extract and structure the relevant information to make it actionable. In this presentation we will discuss the evolution of data science at Global Affairs Canada. In particular, through concrete examples we will demonstrate how data science, and especially generative artificial intelligence, is being used to help the department more efficiently derive insights from its data and how we will scale these technologies for a global organization.
